Part of the Waitākere Ranges Regional Park, Cornwallis is a popular, safe spot for family picnics and swimming. Beautiful beach 🌊, big park 🌳, and a long stretch of sand – plenty of space for everyone!
Great for families 👨👩👧👦, and no big waves, so it’s perfect for kids to splash around. This was our go-to beach when we were kids.
Cornwallis Beach is a charming coastal settlement in West Auckland, New Zealand, sitting right on the stunning Manukau Harbour 🌅. It was the site of the first European settlement in the Auckland Region, though things didn’t go quite as planned back in the 1840s. Today, Cornwallis is a favorite for fishing off the wharf 🎣, surrounded by pōhutukawa trees and lush lowland forest 🌳. With a mix of locals and holidaymakers, it's a relaxed spot to soak up some sun and enjoy the peaceful seaside vibes 🌞.
Be sure to visit the 200m long restored Cornwallis wharf, the last of the Manukau Harbour's 16 ferry wharves.
Hint – If you want to make a day of it, be sure to check out all the hidden gems in the area! Some of our favorite Auckland spots are nearby! 🥾💦 (Omananui, Whatipu caves & Karamatura Falls)
