Before Visiting Costa Rica
Before you come to Costa Rica, I want to give you a few personal tips that will honestly make your trip so much better.

Costa Rica
Costa Rica is not a country you come to just stay in one place. In my opinion, the best way to really experience it is by moving around, exploring different areas, and finding those spots that aren’t always on the typical tourist list. Because of that, I always recommend renting a car.
If you can, go for a 4x4. You don’t always need it, but there are many beautiful places where the road gets a bit rough, and having it will make things way easier.
Something very important to understand is that distances here can be tricky. On the map, everything looks close… but in reality, drives can take longer than expected because of mountains, curves, or road conditions. So don’t overpack your itinerary—give yourself time to enjoy each place
Weather is another thing. Costa Rica is tropical, but it changes a lot depending on where you are. You can have sun, rain, and clouds all in the same day.
My recommendation: plan your main activities early in the morning. That’s when you’ll get the best weather and fewer people.
When it comes to packing, keep it simple. Light clothes, something for the rain, good shoes, and of course your swimsuit. You’ll probably use it more than you think.
Money-wise, you’ll be fine almost everywhere. Cards are accepted in most places, and even US dollars are widely used. Still, I always recommend carrying a bit of cash, especially if you’re going to more local or remote areas.
Costa Rica is a very safe country overall, but just use common sense. Don’t leave valuables in your car, be mindful of where you park, and always keep an eye on your belongings—especially at the beach.
If you’re bringing a drone (which I definitely recommend), just remember that you can’t fly it inside National Parks. Outside of that, you’ll find incredible spots to capture amazing views—just always fly responsibly.
One thing I always tell people: respect nature. Don’t feed animals, don’t leave trash behind, and try to keep these places as they are. That’s what makes Costa Rica so special.
And finally… don’t rush it.
Some of the best moments here are not planned.
Wake up early, take your time, stop at random places, and enjoy the small things. That’s really what Costa Rica is about.
Pura vida 🤍
