Huanchaco Surf School is one of many many many surf school here. They are all pretty much the same with slight differences in price. Some schools will let you keep the board for the day if you buy a lesson. Others will give you a discount for the following days if you just want one lesson and then to try it on your own. Others have week long programs to get you started.

I went here in winter so I had to wear a wetsuit and the water was FREEZING. I'd recommend going in summer lol.

Most people who come to Huanchaco are there for the surf so the whole community is very laidback and chilled. Great vibes.
