Wakakusa-yama, standing at 342 meters, offers some of the most spectacular panoramic views in Nara. The trail begins at the toll gate and leads hikers through grassy slopes dotted with Nara’s famous deer. The hike is ideal for those looking for a short, scenic walk with minimal effort.

The summit provides stunning views of Nara City, including landmarks such as Todai-ji Temple, Kofuku-ji Temple, and Kasuga Taisha Shrine. On clear days, you can even see as far as Kyoto and Osaka.

In spring, the area is adorned with cherry blossoms, while autumn brings vibrant foliage, making it a year-round destination. The grassy slopes also serve as the setting for the Wakakusa Yamayaki Festival, a unique annual event where the mountain is set ablaze in January.
