24 hours in Gothenburg

Your trip starts by stopping into the hotel to drop off your bags. I always love to find a cozy pastry and coffee to start any getaway. If you are using a rental car, just note that this city was not really built for city driving, so if possible use public transportation. Otherwise, the parking at Nordstan shopping center is a good place to keep your car for the duration.

Once you've left your bags, head into Haga, which is full of cozy boutiques and yummy eateries. It's easy to spend an entire morning here just wandering around. Make your way into Cafe Hebbe Lelle for some breakfast fuel.

If it's a sunny day, head over to Gothenburg's botanical garden, which is beautiful and free, though they do offer paid tours. Don't miss out on their arboretum which houses the most beautiful tropical plants and palm trees, and the Japanese garden.

You can't visit Gothenburg without a trip to the famous Saluhallen. We love coming here when we want a little bit of everything for lunch! I personally love the pastries at Brogyllen and the sandwiches at Hasselsons Macklucka, perfect for taking to enjoy on a bench in the nearby Kungsparken.

By this time, you'll want to head back towards your hotel to check in, and there's a lot of fun stops along the way not to be missed in and around Drottninggatan: the Science Fiction Bookstore (which houses board games, anime and fantasy toys, collectibles and much more), Sostrene Grene (the cutest Danish homegoods store you will ever find), adn Arket for trendy Swedish fashion.
