Metro Rome, the fastest and easiest mean of transport around Milan
Exploring Milan by public transport is the way to go! From metro and trams to buses and sharing services, there are plenty of options for getting around this busy Italian city. The Metro, short for Metropolitana, is one of the best options and runs daily from 6am to midnight, with tickets costing between €2 to €18 depending on how long you need it for and you can get them directly inside the metro area. Additionally, Passante Railway operates underground and is a great option if you're looking to move quickly. Trams, buses and filobuses also serve the city, but please note that accessibility varies between stations and vehicles.
There are five Milan metro lines, all color-coded:
M1 (Red line) – Goes from Sesto San Giovanni to Bisceglie and Rho Fieramilano (the line splits.) Major stops include Duomo and Cadorna FN. M2 (Green line) – Goes from Gessate and Cologno Nord to Assago Milanofiori Forum and Abbiategrasso. Major stops include Lambrate FS (train station), Centrale FS (main train station), Garibaldi FS (train station), Porta Genova (Navigli area). M3 (Yellow line) – Goes from Comasina to San Donato. Major stops include Centrale FS and Duomo. M5 (Lilac line) – Goes from Bignami to San Siro Stadio. Major stops include San Siro Stadium and Garibaldi FS.

HOW TO GET THERE:
To get to Piazza Duomo, you can take the subway (red line M1 or yellow line M3) or a tram (line 15 to the Piazza Fontana stop, lines 2 and 14 to the Via Torino stop, lines 16, 24 and 27 to the Via Mazzini stop). Here you can download the metro map.
Once you arrive in the square you will find yourself in front of the Cathedral: its grandeur will leave you speechless, think that it is the third largest Catholic church in the world, surpassed only by the Basilica of San Pietro and the Cathedral of Seville.

The Duomo is definitely worth a visit even inside. We advise you to look for the ticket office located on the left side: by paying 9 euros (full price at the time of writing this article) you can go up to the terraces and with 4 euros more you can use the lift. The show that awaits you, surrounded by the spiers, is incredible. Trust me it's really worth it!

Directly from Piazza Duomo, on the left, you can access the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, another of the symbolic places of the city. It is a cross-shaped gallery that leads directly to Piazza della Scala, full of bars, restaurants, shops and with one more curiosity.
When you are in the center of the Gallery, you will notice a mosaic under your feet depicting a bull. Several people stop at this point to perform a superstitious ritual: point the heel at the bull and do 3 turns on themselves. Why not do it too, perhaps immortalized by a photo shoot or a creative video?
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a great place to experience Italian design and culture. Built in the center of Milan, it houses some of the oldest shops and restaurants in the city, as well as luxury retailers, cafés, bars, and a hotel. It features a huge iron-and-glass roof that gives it an ethereal look. Inside, one can find four mosaics depicting the coats of arms of the main Italian cities, plus Milan's coat of arms. Legend has it that if you stand on the testicles of the bull from Turin's coat of arms, you'll get good luck! Visiting Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a must-see when visiting Milan.

See The Last Supper
Santa Maria delle Grazie is the home of one of the most famous masterpieces in the world, the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. Located on the back wall of the convent's refectory, this renowned fresco depicts Jesus sharing his last meal with his apostles and revealing that one of them will soon betray him; the shock, horror and disbelief are artistically composed onto every face barring Jesus. Visitors to the Cenacolo Vinciano are limited due to its fragile state, so it a ticket should be purchased early for a guaranteed chance to admire the artwork up close. For those who can’t get tickets, tours of the city which offer the opportunity to visit the refectory are available. The Cenacolo is also opposite the Casa degli Atellani, where Leonardo lived while painting the artwork and tended to his vines at the end of each day. It promises to be an unforgettable experience for all art-lovers.
Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie and the adjoining Dominican convent are one of the unmissable stops, especially for art lovers. Beyond the Basilica, which is certainly worth a visit, in the nearby convent it is possible to admire one of the masterpieces of all time: Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper.
