Strömsdammen is a popular area for swimming, fishing and outdoor recreation conveniently located in the Vestre Akker district of Oslo. It was initially created towards the end of the 19th century as part of Voksen Gård's water supply and electric power system. However, in 1995, due to structural damage, the dam had to be closed temporarily for repairs. After a hard-fought campaign by local citizens, the Strömsdammen reopened in 1997 with an improved entrance ramp that makes it accessible to wheelchair users and strollers. The lake has since become a popular destination with beautiful views of the surrounding forest and mountain areas, as well as a variety of exciting recreational activities for all ages.
