Nelson/Tasman Itinerary
3 dni

What you'll do

In this guide, I share my favourite places to visit and things to do in the Nelson/Tasman region. This corner of New Zealand is home to some of the most dazzling beaches and sunniest days in the country, yet it often flies under the radar compared to bigger-name destinations. For me, though, it’s an absolute must-visit. From the turquoise bays of Abel Tasman National Park to the golden sands of Tata Beach and the quirky charm of Nelson itself, this region really does have it all.

I’ve put together a 3-day itinerary that includes not only my favourite scenic spots, but also recommendations for great local food and activities so you can make the most of your time here. Whether you’ve got a long weekend to spare or are adding this on to a longer South Island adventure, this itinerary is designed to be flexible and easy to customise.

So pack your sunnies, grab your camera, and get ready to soak up everything Nelson/Tasman has to offer. And if you do follow this itinerary, let me know how you go—I’d love to hear about your experiences 🥰

Wycieczka

Epic hike with beautiful coastal views

The Cable Bay to Glenduan track is a local favourite near Nelson, offering sweeping coastal views across Tasman Bay. Starting from Cable Bay, the hike follows farm tracks and ridgelines, with rolling hills that give you panoramic looks back toward Nelson and out to Pepin Island. On a clear day, you’ll spot snow-topped mountains in the distance.

🥾 Hiking info: The full track takes around 3–4 hours one way, with moderate climbs along the way. Most people arrange a car at each end, but you can also walk part of the route and turn back if you’re short on time.

📸 Photography tip: The best photo spots are along the ridgelines, where the trail dips and rises with the coastline. Sunset is especially magical, with the light hitting the bay and silhouetting the hills.
