Gheluvelt Park is one of our go-to spots for a relaxed family day out in Worcester. It’s got everything you need: a brilliant play area, splash pad, riverside paths and now a gorgeous new café, Kyndfolk, right inside the park. There's also a little stream that runs around the edge of the park which is especially nice for summer!
🚲 Our Circular Route
We started at the park and followed the riverside path along the Severn, then looped back through the Worcester Racecourse (Pitchcroft). It’s a lovely, flat route and my two did it on their bikes with no trouble at all. However scooters, buggies or wheelchairs might just struggle through the small wooded section. You can make the route fully paved by taking the path straight ahead off the bridge and going through the housing estate.

🛝 What’s in the Park?
Playground: Loads of climbing frames, swings, and space to run around
Splash Pad: Great for cooling off in warmer months
Bandstand & Pond: A nice spot to sit and watch the ducks
The new Kyndfolk café is a real treat. They serve up delicious brunches, specialty coffee, smoothies and baked goods. There’s also a community room for events and a garden where locals can get involved. It’s open daily from 7am to 6pm.
📍 Good to Know
Location: Barbourne Rd, Worcester WR1 3EZ
Parking: Free roadside parking nearby and free car park behind KyndFolk (Waterworks Car Park)
Toilets: Available at the cafe
Dog-Friendly: Yes
Accessibility: Most paths are suitable for wheelchairs and buggies but my route took us through a section of woodland that would be too tricky to navigate with wheels so there's an alternative wheelchair/buggy friendly route if you go over the first bridge, continue straight ahead into the housing estate, take a left and then it meets back up with the Severn Way a bit further down.
Whether you're after a gentle walk, a play in the park, or a tasty coffee, Gheluvelt Park has you covered.
