San Sebastián

  • Walk 90% of the time

Train (Euskotren):

  • Best for Zumaia trip

Bilbao

  • Slightly bigger but still easy and walkable

  • Tram (Guggenheim area)

  • Funicular (Artxanda)

Between both cities

  • Take the Bus

  • Cost: €7–€15

  • Time: ~1h

Accommodation:

  • in San Sebastian: Stay in Gros; Close to Zurriola beach + walkable + quieter

  • In Bilbao, stay in Abando / center

What to eat:

Pintxos (it's a main experience)

  • Small bites at bars, whether they're tiny ones or semi-luxury ones

  • You hop from place to place

  • Prices range between € 2.9-€ 7

Some Must-try:

  • Tortilla de patata / de bacalau

  • Anchovies

  • Croquetas

  • Bacalao (cod)

  • Txistorra (sausage)

  • Foie pintxos

  • Seafood creations (with octopus, shrimps)

Dessert:

  • Basque Cheesecake (BASSK and La Viña)

Drinks:

  • Txakoli (local white wine)

Notes:

  • Carry Cash. Around €20–30, especially for buses and small bars

  • Restaurants and bars usually close between 3:30 pm/4 pm and 7:00 pm. They reopen afterwards till late at night.
