Lägh da Cavloc, also known as Lago di Cavloccio, is a picturesque lake located near Maloja Pass in the Val Forno region of Switzerland. It's a hidden gem surrounded by rocky shores and pine trees, with a beautiful beach on the southern side where visitors can take a dip in the chilly water. There's even a cozy mountain restaurant nearby to grab a bite and enjoy the stunning views. Accessible via an easy hiking trail from Maloja, it's a popular spot for both summer hikes and winter activities like cross-country skiing. The lake holds artistic significance too, as it was immortalized in a painting by Giovanni Giacometti in 1922. So, whether you're seeking natural beauty, outdoor adventures, or a touch of culture, Lägh da Cavloc has got it all!

I only did the hike to the lake in winter but certainly will be back in summer to check this place out.

HOW TO GET THERE:

The winter hike starts at Maloja, Cad Maté bus stop. From here you will need to follow the number 380 sign towards Plan Canin. It is very straighforward, the pink poles guide you on the way.

It is an in and out hike, 11 km long with 400 meters of elevation gain. The hike can take 3h 45 minutes.

TIP FOR SUMMER:

If you want a super cool day hike with hut included then don't stop at the lake but keep hiking towards Capana del Forno hut. It is located next to the Forno Glacier and its an incredible place. I personally haven't been yet and I don't like sharing locations that I haven't done yet, but this, I can assure you it is incredible.
