Oyasukyo Gorge is a natural ravine in Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture, formed by the Minase River over thousands of years. The gorge is famous for its 60-meter-high cliffs and hot spring waters that gush from crevices at around 98°C, creating impressive steam clouds.

The trail is well-maintained, descending into the gorge and allowing visitors to experience the geothermal activity up close. The walk takes about an hour round trip and includes rocky stairs and a promenade along the river. Proper footwear is recommended as the path can be steep and slippery, especially in wet conditions.

In spring and summer, the gorge is surrounded by lush greenery, while autumn brings vibrant fall foliage, making it a popular seasonal destination. In winter, the gorge transforms into a wonderland with impressive icicles known locally as "shigakko."

There are no facilities within the gorge, but restrooms and shops are available near the entrance. After exploring, nearby hot spring inns offer a relaxing onsen experience, some with views of the ravine. Oyasukyo Gorge is a fascinating spot to experience Japan’s geothermal wonders set against stunning natural scenery.
