Carnaby Street is one of London's most iconic hotspots, located in the area of Soho. It is a pedestrian-friendly destination popular with many fashion and lifestyle retailers. The street began in 1685 or 1686, and gained its fame during the 1960s Swinging London era. Various boutiques, bars and clubs were opened on Carnaby Street, specifically catering to young mods and hippies. These included the famous men's boutique Vince, named after its owner, Bill 'Vince' Green. This establishment was popularized by models such as Sean Connery and Billy Walker. Furthermore, Florence Mills Social Club opened at number 50, which served as a meeting place for supporters of Pan-Africanism. In addition, some legendary bands such as The Who and the Rolling Stones often appeared in the area. Nowadays, Carnaby Street still remains a beloved tourist destination that preserves its characteristic atmosphere from the swinging sixties.
