Khorixas is a small town in Namibia, located in the southern part of the Kunene Region. With a population of about 6,000 people, it used to be the capital of the Damaraland bantustan before Namibia gained independence. The majority of its residents are from the Damara ethnic group. Khorixas is known for its tourist attractions, such as the Petrified Forest and the Twyfelfontein valley with its rock art. However, the town faces challenges in terms of economic development and employment opportunities, leading to frustration and outward migration among its youth. Despite these difficulties, Khorixas remains a vibrant community with a unique cultural heritage.
