Sitting on the Reykjavík waterfront is Sólfar (sun vogayer), a dream boat and an ode to the sun. This statue symbolizes the promises of new land, and shows a Viking ship sailing toward the sun and the hope that would bring new horizons and opportunities.

The shiny metal and location make this a photogenic spot and a popular destination for tourists, especially photography enthusiasts. You can capture stunning shots of the sculpture against the backdrop of the ocean and the mountains. If you come at the right time, you get see amazing sunrises or sunsets. The vibrant colors washing over the sculpture and landscape looks like a painting.

The statue was designed by Icelandic artist Jón Gunnar.
