Perched atop a dramatic cliff, the ruins of Canossa Castle offer a truly breathtaking panorama of the surrounding Apennine hills. It's a place of immense history, and you can feel it as you explore the remnants of this once-mighty fortress. The visit itself is quite brief, including a small museum, but the real magic is in the incredible views and the sense of stepping back in time. Be prepared for a short, uphill walk of about 5-10 minutes from the car park to reach the entrance, but the scenery makes it well worth the effort.
