Laguna 69 is one of the most iconic hikes in the Cordillera Blanca and a must-visit if you’re exploring Huaraz. Nestled high in the Andes at around 4,600 m above sea level, this turquoise glacial lake is absolutely jaw-dropping, framed by snow-capped peaks, waterfalls, and rocky cliffs — it looks like it’s straight out of a postcard.

The hike to the lake is challenging but incredibly rewarding, usually taking 4–6 hours round-trip depending on your pace. The trail starts from Cebolla Pampa and winds through valleys, rivers, and alpine terrain before reaching the crystal-clear blue water, where you’ll often see local birds and grazing llamas along the way.

Tips for visiting:

  • Altitude: Take it slow to acclimatize in Huaraz beforehand.

  • Best time: May–September for dry weather and clear skies; rainy season can make the trail slippery.

  • Cost: Entrance fees to Huascarán National Park are around S/ 20–30 (USD ~$5–8), plus a small guide fee if you hire one.

  • What to pack: Layers, sturdy hiking boots, sunscreen, snacks, water, and a camera for the incredible scenery.
