Kuirau Park is New Zealand’s only free geothermal park and is located within an easy walk from the city centre, just off Pukuatua and Ranolf streets.

Stunning is the only word I can use to describe Kairau Park. Although it can get busy here (especially during peak travel season), it always feels peaceful. A few walkways lead through the park, past the crater lake, mud pools, and hot springs. There's also a free thermal foot bath!

If you're here for the weekend, I highly recommend coming on a Saturday as there's a farmers' market held from 6 am to 1 pm!
