Friðheimar is an Icelandic greenhouse restaurant that provides a unique experience of dining among lush tomato plants. It is one hour east of Reykjavík, and the warm, humid air inside the greenhouse is created purposefully to create an atmosphere similar to that of the Mediterranean. The restaurant serves up creative dishes made entirely from tomatoes, from tomato soup and freshly baked breads for lunch to green tomato jams and tomato ice cream for dessert. Friðheimar is increasingly popular with tourists visiting Iceland, who have the chance to see the harvest and eat the produce in the same space. Buying edible souvenirs is also an option, as the Little Tomato Shop on site sells products like tomato jam and chutney that are made from tomatoes that can't be sold in markets due to minor surface flaws.
