Western Australia Travel Guide

Hi we are Chris and Bec (@salt.and.charcoal) We’ve been road-tripping Western Australia since we were kids, hit the road full-time in 2020, and done the AU lap twice 🚐 And WA is still our favourite state, especially for road tripping!

It has a rugged and remote feel, and it's way more 2WD-friendly than you might think. The key is knowing the best routes for YOUR setup and WHEN to tackle them! đŸ”„ So we created this guide based on ALL the road trips we’ve done across WA with:

✅ 16+ road trip itineraries for any season marked for 2WD or 4WD, so you know what’s doable in a regular car and when to do it

✅ Our fav beaches, waterfalls, gorges, hikes, surfing and snorkelling spots, campsites, bakeries, coffee spots...

✅ Filters like "dog-friendly", "snorkel", "surf"

And once you’ve got the guide, it’s yours for life! We'll keep updating it as we keep travelling.

Hope to see you on the road!

I absolutely love it! I have used it many times, it’s super easy to navigate and really well put together. It’s helped me discover so many cool and unique spots I would never have found on my own, which made my trip even more special. Honestly, I’m really happy with it and would definitely recommend it to anyone planning a trip to WA! Thanks you!

Although we haven't actually done our West Australian trip yet, Chris and Bec's Guide (Salt & Charcoal) has been a life saver for our planning.

Their itineraries are fabulous, and we really like the way they point out the things to see in each town or beach.

We thoroughly recommend their guides.

Looking at planning a trip thru WA leaving from the east coast.

So much inform and lots of different trips already mapped out which is very helpful.

Certainly very helpful when planning.

Heaps of info on where to camp, food spots, and a few places we wouldn't have found on our own. Very useful for our trip to Esperance and Margaret River, I recommend this guide to others

Did our Perth to Exmouth trip with this guide and it was super handy (it even has fuel stop recommendations). Already planning to use it again for our Southwest trip in November, thank you Chris & Bec!
