Oratunturi is an easy and beautiful fell located near the center of Sodankylä (about 20 minutes away). Near the summit of Oratunturi fell, you’ll find a campfire spot (note: you can use the campfire freely, but there is not always firewood.)

During snow-free seasons, reaching Oratunturi is quite straightforward. You can drive your car along address: Seväseläntie (approximately 2 km) to the beginning of the trail that leads to the hill. From there, it’s just a 1.5 km walk along the path to reach the top.

In winter, the road may not be plowed, which means the journey to the hill becomes longer. If the road is not accessible, you can leave your car at the starting point of Seväseläntie, where there’s usually a cleared parking area. From here, the distance to the fell is 3.5 km.

Oratunturi is ideal for snowshoeing and OAC skin-based skiing during the winter months. This trail to the summit is also a snowmobile trail, but you can traverse the same path using snowshoes or skis.

Oratunturi on helppokulkuinen ja kaunis tunturi, joka sijaitsee lähellä Sodankylän keskustaa (noin 20 minuutin ajomatkan päässä). Lähellä huippua on nuotiopaikka, jota voi käyttää vapaasti – mutta polttopuita ei aina ole saatavilla.

Kesällä: Oratunturille pääseminen on suht yksinkertaista. Voit ajaa autolla Seväseläntietä noin 2 km, kunnes saavut polun alkuun, joka johtaa tunturille. (Seuraa punaisia moottorikelkkareitti merkkejä). Tästä eteenpäin matkaa huipulle on vain 1,5 km kävellen.

Talvella: Tie ei välttämättä ole aurattu, mikä pidentää matkaa tunturille. Jos tie ei ole ajokelpoinen, auton voi jättää Seväseläntien alkuun, jossa on yleensä aurattu pysäköintialue. Tästä eteenpäin matkaa tunturille on 3,5 km.

Oratunturi on ihanteellinen paikka lumikenkäilyyn ja liukulumikengillä hiihtämiseen talvikuukausina. Huipulle johtava reitti toimii myös moottorikelkkareittinä, mutta samaa polkua voi kulkea lumikengillä tai suksilla.
