Saana Fell is a striking mountain in northern Finland, standing at 1,029 meters. It is located in the only part of Finland that extends into the Scandinavian Mountains, rising 556 meters above the nearby Lake Kilpisjärvi.

Saana is one of Finland’s most renowned fells and a popular attraction for both tourists and hikers. The trail to Saana’s summit is approximately 5km long and begins from the Malla Nature Reserve parking area. For conservation reasons, visitors are allowed to climb the fell only via designated paths.

Before more steeper section of the trail, there is a designated campfire spot. There is also stairs that have been built to facilitate the ascent to the actual summit.

From the top of Saana, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking views that entice travelers year-round.

On Saana’s summit, you’ll also find remnants from the wartime era left by German forces. Please refrain from touching them, and take care while exploring Saana!

Saana-tunturi on vaikuttava tunturi, jonka korkeus on 1 029 metriä. Se sijaitsee Suomen ainoassa osassa, joka ulottuu Skandien vuoristoon, nousten 556 metriä Kilpisjärven yläpuolelle.

Saana on yksi Suomen tunnetuimmista tuntureista ja suosittu kohde sekä matkailijoille että retkeilijöille. Reitti Saanan huipulle on noin 5 km pitkä ja alkaa Mallan luonnonpuiston pysäköintialueelta. Suojelusyistä vierailijat saavat kiivetä tunturille vain merkityillä poluilla.

Ennen jyrkempää osuutta reitillä on merkitty nuotiopaikka. Lisäksi huipulle johtavalle reitille on rakennettu portaat helpottamaan nousua.

Saanan huipulla on myös sodanaikaisia jäänteitä, jotka saksalaiset joukot ovat jättäneet jälkeensä. Niihin ei tule koskea, ja tunturilla liikkuessa on syytä olla varovainen.
