The Käfigturm is a 17th-century tower, which originally served as a city gate and defensive tower, then later as a medieval prison.

Today, the Käfigturm houses the Polit-Forum Bern, which hosts free exhibitions and events on political and social topics relevant to Switzerland.

The tower is location on the main shopping street in the old town - see on map. You cannot climb this tower, but you can climb Zytglogge tower with a guided tour.
