Laguna Amarilla is a stunning sight to behold. Located near the El Altar Volcano in Sangay National Park, it features a horseshoe-shaped crater-lagoon. Although its name literally means 'yellow lagoon', the turquoise water is sure to take your breath away. Swirling ice chunks drop into the lake from the nine snow-covered peaks that surround it, creating a tranquil atmosphere unlike any other. Here, visitors can enjoy activities such as walking, trekking, fishing, birdwatching, and camping which are all great ways to experience the lush beauty of the Collanes valley and majestic El Altar in the backdrop.
