The Painswick is a beautiful boutique Cotswolds hotel with 17 bedrooms – and trust me when I say that the food here isn’t half bad, either.

In addition to the tasting or a la carte menus, I’d also recommend savouring a sumptuous Cotswolds afternoon tea here.

The seven course tasting menu offers good value, and allows diners to sample a range of dishes made with seafood, meat, fruit and chocolate paired with more unusual ingredients like monks’ beard (a spinach-like leaf), cime di rapa (a type of turnip) or the Asian yuzu citrus fruit.
