You can find the complete packing guide, with everything we took with us on our world trip, here.

But these things are worth a extra mention:

  • Mosquito repellent

  • Mosquito net (What we would pack additionally next time) They are not available everywhere – and they are very important, especially for children.

  • Trekking sandals that can get wet (Not particularly stylish, but extremely practical – ideal for jungles, waterfalls, and rivers.)

  • Bluetooth headphones

  • Sun hat & sunscreen (The sun is strong, even on cloudy days)

  • If you surf: a waterproof UV shirt (Protects against the sun and chafing.)

  • For glasses wearers: Get daily disposable contact lenses from your optician. (Perfect for surfing or snorkeling if you still want to see well.)

  • Waterproof day bag (Ideal for waterfalls to protect your camera & cell phone, or if you're paddling to a small island on your SUP and want to take your cell phone with you.)

  • Quick-drying towel (Handy for beaches, waterfalls, or simple accommodations.)

  • Headlamp (The sun often sets around 6 p.m. and it gets dark quickly. Super handy on the beach, in caves (e.g., Bat Cave), or on evening walks. There are also frequent power outages - then you'll be able to see.)

  • Travel first aid kit (mini) Fever reducers for children, electrolytes, bandages, disinfectant, diarrhea medication. There are pharmacies, but not always where you need them.

  • Lightweight rain poncho (Small, lightweight, and perfect for tropical rain showers or scooter rides.)

  • Power bank

  • Multi-socket or travel adapter

  • Snacks from home (Especially handy with kids for long trips)

  • Copy of passports (digital & offline)

  • Lightweight scarf/shawl (For temples, sun, air conditioning, or as a quick blanket for kids.)

Note: This is what we would bring with us, but it is not a complete list. This applies especially to medications!
