This is one of my favorite viewpoints in Sälen, a hike you definitely don’t want to miss. The trail is the first part of the Sudra Kungsleden and starts with a paved asphalt road leading up the mountain. Before you reach the top, you can stop by a small botanical garden featuring mountain plants. Also great for mountain biking!
At the summit, you’ll find a wind shelter with a fireplace and a stunning view over a mountain lake. Just before the shelter, there’s also a dry toilet available.
If you want to hike further, you can continue down the clearly marked trail with red crosses. This part of the path is unpaved but easy to follow. Along the way, you’ll reach another shelter where you can spend the night, cook dinner, have a picnic, and even take a refreshing dip in the lake.
The trail is accessible year-round, but keep in mind that the snow can get very deep in winter. Snowshoes or skis are essential if you’re exploring during that time.
You can park your car at Sälens Högfjällshotell.
