This destination was such a fantastic accidental find! I stumbled upon Blue Holes Beach while visiting Kalbarri and stopping into the carpark to use the public toilets where I was in for a delightful surprise. Tucked away this hidden gem boasts rock pools that serve as a vibrant fish haven, creating a natural aquarium alive with marine life.
Named after its inshore limestone reef system, this stretch of coastline offers a unique mix of submerged and exposed areas. You'll marvel at the diversity of fish, over 70 species, including dart, moon wrasse, and raccoon butterfly fish. The coral formations enhance the underwater spectacle, making it an ideal spot for snorkelers.
I happened to visit on a windy day, and escaping the chilly coastal breeze with a swim in these pools was just perfect. Whether you're taking a leisurely stroll along the pristine beach, exploring the hidden rock pools with a swim, or simply soaking in the breathtaking views, Blue Holes Beach is a serene spot to unwind before continuing your journey along the Coral Coast.
