This small reindeer farm is a very hidden gem in Lapland. The owners live on the property with the reindeers and the farm is only open by appointment.

What makes Ylitalo Poromatkailu so unique, is that it's very small and local. You can meet the reindeers in their backyard, feed them and make a unique forest walk together with the reindeers and the owners. I enjoyed this activity so much. The reindeers (and owners) were super friendly and the whole activity felt really off the beaten track.

I did the walk on a foggy morning in september (during the "Ruska" foliage) and it was one of the the most mindful walks I ever made. Connecting with the reindeers, breathing in the clean Lappish air and enjoying nature was truly magical!

They offer this "walking with reindeers" activity in summer (mainly in august) but you have to make an appointment at least 2-5 days in advance by email poromatkailu@gmail.com.

During wintertime they also offer sledge rides with the reindeers.
