Wairua Falls, located on the Wairua River near Whangarei, is a cool spot to check out if you're in the area. It's about a 30-minute drive from Whangarei, with a short gravel road leading to the car park. The waterfall is around 7 meters high and can be hit or miss depending on recent rainfall - so don't expect a raging torrent if it's been dry! Just a heads up, there's no official track to the base of the falls, so stay safe and enjoy the view from the designated viewing area.
