🇧🇷 A Igreja de Santiago e a Capela dos Cabrais são repletas de história. A igreja tem raízes românicas em sua fundação, mas sua construção ocorreu em 1240, por iniciativa de D. Maria Gil Cabral, que ergueu a Capela de Nossa Senhora da Piedade no local. Em 1433, a Capela dos Cabrais foi construída pelos pais de Pedro Álvares Cabral. No interior da igreja, você encontrará a imagem gótica de Nossa Senhora da Piedade, uma escultura esculpida em granito da região, com aproximadamente 1,5 metros de altura. Além disso, há um afresco na capela-mor que retrata São Tiago, Nossa Senhora da Esperança e São Pedro, que possivelmente representa Pedro Álvares Cabral. Parte dos restos mortais de Pedro Álvares Cabral e outros membros de sua família estão sepultados nessa capela.

🇺🇸 The Church of Santiago and the Chapel of the Cabrais are steeped in history. The church has Romanesque roots in its foundation, but its construction took place in 1240, at the initiative of D. Maria Gil Cabral, who erected the Chapel of Our Lady of Mercy on the site. In 1433, the Chapel of the Cabrais was built by the parents of Pedro Álvares Cabral. Inside the church, you will find the Gothic image of Our Lady of Mercy, a sculpture carved from the local granite, standing at approximately 1.5 meters in height. Additionally, there is a fresco in the main chapel depicting Saint James, Our Lady of Hope, and Saint Peter, which may possibly represent Pedro Álvares Cabral. Part of the remains of Pedro Álvares Cabral and others from his family are interred in this chapel.
