Sri Lanka

PickMe

Sri Lanka's very own ride hailing app, and a bunch of other stuff too. Even if you're driving your own tuktuk around Sri Lanka, you'll want to have PickMe downloaded for getting a taxi from the airport at least.

Its also useful if you want a tuktuk back to your hotel one night after a few drinks rather than walking. No negotiating prices with tuktuk drivers.

TukTuk Rental

Absolutely essential if you are renting a tuktuk in Sri Lanka as it has all the petrol stations and recommended mechanics as well as hotels, waterfalls, viewpoints, temples, beaches, and everything else you could want to do.

Google Translate

English is fairly widely spoken in Sri Lanka but you still want to have Google Translate downloaded for times when the locals don't speak any English. Make sure you have both Sinhala and Tamil downloaded for use offline.

Google Maps

No maps app is perfect for Sri Lanka, they all think that some roads that are only passable in 4x4 vehicles are ok for tuktuks and bikes. But Google Maps is the best of them for navigating around cities or to viewpoints.

Windy

Maybe a little confusing at first, but Windy is the best weather app for Sri Lanka, especially if you're looking for surfing weather updates. There is a paid version of the app that unlocks all sorts of weather features we don't need or understand. But the free version is good for most people who just want to know if its going to rain or not.

ATM Fee Saver

Its not 100% accurate, seems to think some Bank of Ceylon ATMs have fees that didn't when we used them. But a good app for getting an idea of where you can get money out the cheapest if you're in a pinch.

Hutch/Dialog/Mobitel

Whichever local mobile provider you go with, make sure you have their app downloaded as it'll allow you to track your usage and top up with extra dated if needed.
