Kilt Rock is an impressive, unique geological formation located on the Inner Hebridean Isle of Skye off the coast of Scotland. It stands 90 meters tall and resembles a pleated kilt because of the basalt columns throughout its layered sandstone base. When viewed with the accompaniment of a strong wind, the sound is entrancing as it whistles through the surrounding fencing just like a musical instrument. Not far away from Kilt Rock is the Mealt Falls, which cascades down from the top of the cliffs to the shore below and gives the area a tranquil atmosphere. On clear days, one can even spot the Isle of Lewis and mainland Scotland from the Trotternish Peninsula viewpoint. Kilt Rock is a must-see when visiting this beautiful part of Scotland!
