This little-known trail near Cilaos leads to one of the area’s most peaceful basins, tucked away behind trees and volcanic rock. It’s not a long hike, but the path narrows in places, and the descent to the water can be slippery. What you’ll find at the end is a clear pool, fed by a thin cascade, with barely a sign of development around.
You won’t find crowds here, or even signage. This is one of those places hikers discover by asking around. If you want a break from the more famous trails and a cool, shady place to rest your feet, this is the kind of local trail that stays with you.
👉 Park near the D241 before it climbs toward Cilaos village, then ask a local about the trailhead. It's not marked, but well-trodden.
