Yes — Florida really does have caves, and Florida Caverns State Park is one of the most unexpected places I’ve ever visited in the state. Walking through the caverns honestly stopped me in my tracks — it feels like stepping into a different world.

The guided cave tour is the main event, and the only way to see the caverns. Tours are timed, limited, and sell out often — especially on weekends or during spring break — so arrive early or book ahead. It stays around 65°F and humid inside year-round, which feels amazing on a hot day. Bring closed-toe shoes (the ground is wet and uneven), and maybe a light jacket if you tend to get cold.

Photos are welcome, but no touching — the formations are fragile and protected.

Outside the caves, the park is chill and easy to explore. There are a few short trails, picnic tables, and a small campground if you want to stretch it into a full day.

• Kids must meet height/safety requirements

• Caves aren’t wheelchair accessible (stairs and uneven surfaces)

• Restrooms and a small gift shop on site

• Spring and fall are ideal for cooler weather but the caves are 65 degrees all the time, so if you go in the summer it will be comfortable inside the caves
