During our second trip to Tromsø in March 2025, we stayed in this less central but aurora-perfect Airbnb (just a 20 min drive from Tromsø), and it truly felt like a secret Arctic retreat. While you'll ideally need a car to stay here (there are buses but there are not super frequent or reliable), the payoff is absolutely worth it.

Why we loved it:

• 🌌 You can see the northern lights from the house, terrace, or even the garden! On this trip, we didn’t even need to drive anywhere or book a tour—we saw the aurora every single night just by stepping outside the door.

• 🌅 The 2 terraces and elevated garden offer wide-open views of the fjord, mountains, and sky—amazing for both sunrises and sunsets.

• 🌊 A quick 3-5-minute walk downhill through the small cluster of houses brings you to the waterfront, where you can catch the lights dancing over the still Arctic waters.

• 🛏️ The house itself is big, cosy, and welcoming, with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a spacious kitchen and living area—perfect for groups or families.

• 🚗 Free parking is included, making it super convenient if you're renting a car to explore Sommarøy, Kvaløya, or Skjervøy.

💡 Tip: This is our favorite place to stay if your main goal is to see the northern lights—it’s quiet, scenic, and gives you a real chance to enjoy the magic of the Arctic sky without leaving home.
