Hidden at the end of a narrow lane in the village of Cove, this little harbour feels like a secret you’ve stumbled upon. Just a handful of houses, a crescent of soft white sand, and rugged cliffs — it’s hard to believe how close it is to surrounding towns. When I went at sunrise, I only crossed paths with one other person, which made it feel completely untouched and remote.

This is still a working harbour, so please respect the local fishermen’s space — if someone asks you to move, do so politely. If you visit, make sure to walk all the way down past the two stone houses to the harbour itself, then head slightly back uphill: you’ll find a small tunnel that leads directly onto the beach. It’s an atmospheric walk that feels like stepping back in time.

The harbour itself is tiny, with a few working boats and weathered stone walls, adding to its timeless charm. Locals say dolphins can sometimes be spotted offshore, though I wasn’t lucky enough to see any on my visit. Whether you’re here for photography, a quiet walk, or just to breathe in the sea air, it’s an idyllic stop along Scotland’s southeast coast.

Parking: Free parking is available in Cove village at coordinates 55.938198, -2.353653 — about a 5-minute walk from the harbour. Entry is free, though donations are encouraged to help conserve this unique spot.

Tip: Visit at sunrise for glowing light on the cliffs and almost guaranteed solitude — bring sturdy shoes, as the path can get slippery, especially after rain.
