You can take a sightseeing boat from the center of Geiranger to get to Skageflå farm. You get dropped off at the bottom of an imposing mountain wall after 40 minutes. The trip looks like an ordeal, and can be a slight challenge, but I would still heartily recommend it. You can enjoy the sightseeing from the boat and schedule getting dropped off on the return, and you can even continue hiking back to Geiranger from the top. You can also take a RIB boat if you want the cheapest and most direct access to the hike.
