Turnaluu Kol hike is considered the best day hike to do in Jyrgalan, especially if you add on the full loop which includes Chaar Jon Peak. The full 14.5 km loop is not overly easy, with a steep climb for those who do the side trip to the peak (which I recommend, if you can), otherwise, it's not as difficult if you skip the peak.
We did the hike in an anti-clockwise direction, which gets the toughest part of the trail out of the way first, by climbing from the village up to Chaar Jon (3,028 m). It offers panoramic views over the entire region, so it's worth the effort!
From there, you can follow the ridge down towards Turnaluu Lake (Crane Lake) at the bottom. There are trails leading all over the place and it can be difficult to follow, so I highly recommend you have Maps.Me or AllTrails downloaded for offline use.
You can continue back to Jyrgalan on trails that cross open fields and downward slopes. There are beautiful views on the way of the mountains and the village, but keep an eye on a map.
Options: You can skip the peak and just walk to the lake and back which would be around 11km return from the village. You can also reach the lake on horseback if you prefer!
