Kibitsu-jinja, known in Japanese as Sanbi Ichinomiya, is a great Shinto shrine located in the northwest of Okayama. It is a popular destination due to its unique kibitsu-zukuri architecture and its connection to Japanese mythology, as it is said to be the birthplace of Momotaro, the famous warrior hero from Japanese folklore. Visitors often enjoy exploring the omotesando alley which is lined with Japanese pine trees, and marvel at the large stone stairs that lead up to the impressive honden, or main building, of the shrine. There are also traditional food stalls, an archery dojo, and a 360-meter covered passageway to explore. After spending some time walking around, visitors can pick up a momomamori peach amulet, a lucky charm said to bring good fortune.
