Venere degli stracci, also known as Venus of the Rags, is a mixed media sculpture by Michelangelo Pistoletto that critiques consumerism. The artwork features a statue of the Roman Goddess Venus next to a pile of rags, symbolizing the contrast between beauty and material excess. In 2023, a large version of the sculpture was installed in Naples but sadly destroyed by arson shortly after. Despite the setback, Pistoletto recreated the piece with the support of crowdfunding, showing that art and culture will prevail against violence and vandalism in Naples.
