What to order:

Order the classic bún chả set. You’ll get smoky grilled pork patties and slices of pork served with rice noodles, fresh herbs, and dipping sauce. It’s simple, well-balanced, and exactly how bún chả is meant to be eaten in Hanoi.

Why it’s here:

This is the bún chả spot made famous by former President Obama and Anthony Bourdain, where they had shared dinner together in 2016. and it’s become a bit of a pilgrimage stop. That said, it’s not just here for the photo. It’s fast, efficient, and consistently good, with locals filling the room during lunch. It’s a great introduction to Hanoi’s most iconic dish in a no-frills setting.

Tip:

Go in knowing this is a popular, busy place rather than a hidden gem. Service is quick and the menu is straightforward, so just sit down and order the set. If you want a quieter, more atmospheric experience, there are better bún chả spots, but this one is still worth trying at least once.

If you want a photo of Obama and Bourdain's table (preserved in a glass case), it’s located on second floor.
