If you only have time to visit one museum in Ulaanbaatar, the Chinggis Khaan National Museum should absolutely be it. With the largest collection of rare and original artifacts and antiques in the country, the eight floors of the museum walk beautifully guides you through the most important time periods of Mongolia's history.

It's helpful if you visit this museum with a guide, as the name cards are only written in Mongolian. There are QR codes next to most artifacts you can scan for detailed descriptions in English, but you'll need wi-fi to access these pages.

Don't miss the exhibition which requires an extra ticket to see the sold gold statue of Chinggis Khaan on the museum's top floor.
