Glentanner Holiday Park is a very good alternative to the popular White Horse Hill DOC campsite, about 20 minutes from Mount Cook Village. It sits right on the shores of Lake Pukaki, with the Southern Alps as a backdrop. The location alone makes it worth staying here!
It's a bit away from the crowds in Mount Cook Village, so you get a quieter, more peaceful experience while still being close enough to quickly access all the hikes and activities in the area.
Unlike White Horse Hill DOC campsite (incredible views, no facilities), Glentanner has everything you need, like hot showers, a fully equipped communal kitchen, and laundry facilities. There’s also a BBQ area if you fancy cooking outside. There are powered and unpowered sites, dorm-style rooms, and self-contained cabins.
Prices for an unpowered site start at $50 per night, and we had no trouble making a same-day booking in the middle of January (peak season).
