Wenderholm Regional Park is one of Auckland’s best-kept secrets on the Hibiscus Coast, just 45 minutes from the city. The park is between Pūhoi and Waiwera. It's a dreamy spot to escape the city. It's a lovely spot to go kayaking, paddleboarding, or fishing.
If you launch your kayaks at Wenderholm, you can kayak all the way to Pūhoi, where you'll find the historic Pūhoi Village Pub, which sells all the pub classics.
How to get there
Wenderholm is a 35-minute drive north of central Auckland. Head north on State Highway 1 until exit 394 to Orewa via Grand Drive. Once you arrive in Orewa, drive straight over the hills until you reach the turnoff for Wenderholm on the left-hand side. You can also reach Wenderholm by public transport. Take the bus to Waiwera and walk ten minutes (over the Waiwera River bridge) to get to the park entrance.
