Barnafoss, also known as "Children's Falls," is a captivating waterfall located in western Iceland, near the more famous Hraunfossar.

Location: Barnafoss is situated in the Borgarfjörður region of western Iceland, near the village of Húsafell and close to Reykholt. It is part of the same river system as Hraunfossar.

Accessibility: The falls can be easily accessed by car via Route 518. There is a parking area near the site, and well-marked paths connect Barnafoss with Hraunfossar, allowing visitors to explore both attractions on foot.

Legend of Barnafoss: According to local legend, Barnafoss is named after a tragic event. It is said that two children from a nearby farm fell into the waterfall and drowned while trying to cross a natural stone bridge over the river. Their grieving mother destroyed the bridge to prevent future tragedies. This story adds a poignant historical and cultural dimension to the site.

Walking Paths: There are several well-maintained paths and viewing platforms around Barnafoss, providing different perspectives of the waterfall and the surrounding gorge. The paths are suitable for most visitors.

Best Time to Visit: Barnafoss can be visited year-round.

Facilities: Basic facilities such as parking and restrooms are available near the waterfalls.
