INFORMATION ON THE SPIRIT OF TASMANIA FERRY

DEPARTING INFO

The Spirit of Tasmania ferry crosses the Bass Strait in both directions between Geelong (Victoria) and Devonport (Tasmania). You can book to bring your car with you however you wont be able to access the car mid journey so pack a bag.

DO NOT BRING FOOD

Quarantine will remove them and throw them in the bin. It is a new state after all with rules and regulations. Yes this sadly happened to us and we wasted 1.5 weeks of food.

BOOK IN ADVANCE 3-6 months

Yes you may get lucky with a last minute booking but this cant always be counted on. When we booked we had to plan months in advance.

IT'S NOT CHEAP

ITS ACTUALLY FUN!

Being a long sail (9 hours) we were happy to see there is so much on board to do. Cinema, cafes, music, shops etc.

But still try nab a nice comfortable spot as soon as you come on near a power point if you want to work etc. We did the day sail so we could actually experience it. And we were lucky to have good weather on the day we went. Was smooth the whole time.

FLYING TO TASMANIA

And of course you can also fly to Tasmania. This is low cost and a quick journey. There are two major airports the main one being Hobart and the other Launceston.
