Look out for the two Italian war statues who have been keeping watch over Casa Bettoni since 1856. They are known to represent esteemed members of the Bersaglieri battalion, which were a troop of marksmen in the Italian Army’s infantry corps and acted as a symbol of the quest to unite Italy (known as the Risorgimento) in the 19th century. It was known for Milanese high-ranking families to show their support for unity by showcasing symbols and emblems like this on their homes.

Step back in time on Corso di Porta Romana to admire a fascinating piece of Milan's history, the Casa Bettoni, affectionately nicknamed 'Casa dei Bersaglieri'. This striking 19th-century palace celebrates Italy's unification with intricate bas-reliefs depicting national heroes like Garibaldi and King Vittorio Emanuele II. Look for the two statues of the elite Bersaglieri riflemen who guard the entrance, giving the building its famous moniker and making it a unique photo opportunity on your stroll through the historic city center.
