Unparalleled to any other store I’ve ever stepped foot in, Search & Destroy is loud, transgressive and keeps St Marks’ radical past well and truly alive for alternative shoppers. It gets its name from the song by proto-punks Iggy and the Stooges and in keeping with that image oozes nostalgia from the punk and experimental era.

From the street you’ll see a mash up of skeletons playing guitars, a giant Mickey Mouse, gruesome looking zombies and hundreds of toy dolls crammed up against the window, in what probably is the most peculiar out- there window display ever created.

Head up the stoop and enter into this chaotic punk rock stomping ground, packed to the rafters with vintage band tee’s, unique biker jackets, customised leather vests and old-style DM’s surrounded by headless mannequins and horror paraphernalia. In addition there’s always an extra heavy playlist booming out in the background; be prepared for a one-of-a-kind-shopping experience.

Founded over 25 years ago, the store sources vintage from across the U.S, as well as from Europe and Japan, which pack out the store with some incredible pieces and rare finds, that might have even made an appearance at CBGB’s back in the day.

Sadly, it’s now one of the last standing sellers of original punk clothing in the East Village, so buckle up and experience a store which vigorously rebels against conformity.
