Besakih Temple, located in Bali, Indonesia, is the most important and holiest temple of Balinese Hinduism. Perched on the slopes of Mount Agung, it consists of 23 temples on parallel ridges, with the main sanctuary being Pura Penataran Agung. The temple's history dates back to prehistoric times, and it has survived natural disasters like the 1963 eruptions of Mount Agung. Despite facing challenges like illegal levies from locals, efforts are being made to maintain and protect this sacred site, which attracts both domestic and foreign visitors each year for its numerous festivals and spiritual significance.
